Masters of hype, Bodega enjoys a reputation for unique and memorable in-person experiences. Yet the streetwear and sneaker brand’s website was on inefficient code, bloated with apps and prone to crash during high-profile drops. Online shoppers were experiencing off-putting brand experiences compared to their physical retail locations – creating a perfect storm of easy brand abandonment.
Our Goal
An exceptionally smooth site experience that could handle the traffic spikes of a zeitgeisty brand.
Our Results
Immediate 40% IMPROVEMENT in conversion rates
Perfect replication of existing theme REBUILT FROM SCRATCH
Propietary solution for APP DEMANDS
How we did it
Discovery
Bodega’s site had been updated by a series of freelancers, none of whom could thoroughly update the site to the extent it was necessary. By the time we got our eyes on it, the issues had compounded over time. At a code level it was now out of sync with Shopify’s own updates. Inefficiencies, unoptimized assets, and a glut of unused applications led to poor experiences, load times and conversion rates.
Deliverables
We undertook a full audit of installations, leveraging a series of conditional rules to optimize certain templates’ reliance on apps. We also optimized all photography assets at the product and variant level, as well as lifestyle imagery in the Shopify file system. And finally we rebuilt their Shopify theme from scratch – meeting Shopify’s current standards, enhancing Bodega’s control over the site and improving site speed. With no design changes to the user experience, it's clear that our overall optimization of the site’s technical foundation is the catalyst for its immediately elevated conversion rates.
