Sid and Ann Mashburn's mission today is the same as it was in 2007, "to enhance people’s lives through clothes that make them feel great." At their carefully curated retail locations in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, LA, DC, and NYC, you are immediately inspired by the selection and craftsmanship, and feel welcomed, served, and taken care of. Yet, their website had fallen behind due to the constraints of Magento. In order to provide the same curated experience online as they did in-store, a change was required.

Discovery

Mashburn's e-commerce site ran on an outdated Magento version that no longer received security updates or support, creating urgent risk and limiting growth potential. Coldsmoke collaborated with their technology team to map essential business requirements against Shopify Plus's native capabilities, including integrated analytics, automated workflows through Shopify Flow, and a fully hosted, conversion-optimized checkout with accelerated payment options like Shop Pay. This analysis confirmed Shopify Plus as the platform best positioned to support Mashburn's expansion while reducing technical overhead and maintenance costs.

Deliverables

Coldsmoke conducted a comprehensive technical audit of all app installations, implementing conditional logic to reduce template dependencies and eliminate redundant functionality. The team systematically optimized every product image, variant photo and lifestyle asset within Shopify's file system, significantly reducing load times without compromising visual quality. Finally, we rebuilt Bodega's theme from the ground up using current Shopify development standards, delivering enhanced site control and measurably faster performance. With the user experience remaining visually unchanged, the dramatic improvement in conversion rates demonstrates the direct impact of technical optimization on e-commerce success.
