Position Overview

The Marketing Strategist will create and implement a marketing strategy for the agency that results in a consistent, predictable, and controllable deal flow and elevates the agency’s profile amongst partners and potential clients. 

The Strategist will work directly with the Founder & CEO and other team members to strategize and execute marketing strategies and special projects. This role calls for someone who can efficiently prioritize projects that yield the highest impact in increasing our inbound leads from referral partners and organic sources.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

The following section is broad and likely too much for one person to execute on alone. We are looking for someone with a point of view on the highest impact projects to prioritize for the key results, which is increasing our inbound leads from referral partners and organic sources. There will be additional resources to help execute on the work.

  • Develop a holistic Marketing strategy.
    • Refine the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) through client interviews and competitor research
    • Design marketing funnel and marketing flywheel
    • Identify core channels for content creation and repurposing
    • Lead the creation of content
      • Blogs
      • Newsletter
      • Case Studies
    • Leverage existing content and repurpose onto other social forums
    • Identify co-marketing opportunities like guest blog posts with technology partners and platform partners (Shopify)
    • Create an event strategy
      • Identify key events where Coldsmoke should have a presence
        • Delineate between attending and hosting
        • When hosting, identify key partners to co-host with
        • When attending, identify key people to set meetings with ahead of time
      • Work with key partners to leverage Marketing Directive Funds (MDF) for hosting events (virtual or IRL)
  • Identify, engage with, and generated business from key referral partners
  • Special projects may include:
    • Develop a Podcast (video interview series)
      • Identify targets to be interviewed based on ICP criteria
      • Develop flow for outreach, scheduling, and recording coordination
      • Manage virtual assistant for editing the content and posting accordingly
      • Create posting and promotion schedule, repurposing content as much as possible (across LinkedIn, Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube)
      • Work with the team to design any assets needed
    • Develop an event series 
      • “Commerce Country Club”

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing successful marketing strategies.
  • Ability to think strategically and identify high-impact projects that align with business objectives.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in creating various types of content, such as blogs, newsletters, case studies, and social media posts.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and executing events virtually and in person, including identifying suitable events, coordinating logistics, and maximizing participation and ROI.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools, content management systems, social media platforms, and analytics tools to streamline marketing processes and measure performance effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem is highly preferred. 
  • Willingness to collaborate with a small but mighty team with the common goal to help the company scale.
  • Able to respond to Slack and email within a timely manner, preference of availability Monday-Friday, 9:00 am and 5:00 pm EST.
